Stay Calm and Comfortable with IV Sedation

Dental anxiety is a condition shared by millions of Americans. If you suffer from it, you’re certainly not alone. Unfortunately, this fear can have some very serious consequences. Dental anxiety is one of the main reasons people avoid seeking dental treatment. Some will ignore symptoms, escalating the likelihood of a minor dental issue turning into a major dental issue or even into a major medical issue.

At Periodontal Medicine & Surgical Specialists, we understand the connection between oral health and systemic health. We’ve made it our mission to treat our whole patient, not just your teeth. We want your treatment to be comfortable, safe, and preventative so that we can catch and treat problems when they are small. The less dentistry you need, the better. We strive to achieve a more comfortable and safe atmosphere with IV sedation for your procedures in Oakbrook Terrace and Glenview, IL.

Our team understands that dental treatment, and especially dental surgery, is stressful – with or without dental anxiety. We will do our best to ease your concerns about your care. From communicating the specifics of any treatment during our consultations to providing sedation for you during  your procedure, we are committed to providing you with a transparent and comfortable dental experience.

Our Sedation and Anesthesia Options

Leave Your Fears at the Door

Dr. Mandelaris, Dr. DeGroot and Dr. Botto are each licensed to provide intravenous (IV) conscious sedation. Administered through your vein, IV conscious sedation induces a sleep-like state for patients during the procedure. Ranging from minimal, which will make you drowsy, to moderate, which may cause you to forget the procedure altogether, IV sedation will vary depending on the patient and the treatment required. The sedation  option allows us to perform your surgical care more safely and comfortably for you.  You are monitored with the most advanced technology and at the highest standards during surgery.  In fact, we dedicate a registered nurse to every patient (along with the surgeon) for every patient undergoing IV sedation.

Each office has a surgical suite where our dental anesthesiologists can administer general anesthesia, rendering you completely unconscious during treatment. The level of anesthesia we provide depends on the complexity of the procedure, your health, and your preferences. We always do our best to make each visit as pain-free, safe, and as worry-free as possible.
